Grocery Merchandise Associate - Ottawa, Ontario

The Grocery Merchandise Associate position is an ideal opportunity for you to further develop your career within the retail sector. Your ability to work with and analyze reports will enable you to monitor store level merchandising and marketing of goods, provide pertinent recommendations for item and category development and provide information and suggestions on specific items/categories/programs to help improve execution of documented strategies and advertising programs. Your recent experience using Microsoft Excel will allow you to manage data and inventory level efficiently and accurately. Interacting with all levels of the organization will come with ease to you as you have strong communication skills and you have the ability to work as part of a team as well as independently.
Job Highlights
- Monitor and maintain warehouse inventory levels
- Process store repeat orders and return to warehouse requests
- Place purchase orders for deal items and seasonal items
- Monitor store level damages/shrink reports and action where necessary
- Maintain advertised item database and ensure integrity
- Source and supply product samples for flyer and signage
- Proofread flyer drafts
- Maintain planograms, prepare documents for full analysis, and discuss recommendations with Buyer
- Communicate and monitor SKU/category strategies
- Prepare category reports to conduct analysis of category
- Monitor results and sales trends on inventory
Job Requirements
- Post secondary education in Business Administration (or related program) and 2 - 3 years experience in retail (grocery experience an asset)
- Strong computer skills – work experience with Excel a must (pivot tables an asset) and AS/400 an asset
- Strong analytical skills
- Ability to work with reports and make suggestions/recommendations based on available data
- Enjoys working in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication skills to be able to interact with all levels of the organization
- Strong organizational skills
- Fundamental understanding of retail
- Bilingual (English and French) an asset
